This expert-level role is responsible for defining architectural direction, elevating development practices, mentoring engineering talent, and aligning technical outcomes with business goals.As a Principal Software Engineer, you will act as a thought leader, guiding system design, fostering innovation, and enhancing software reliability and security. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape long-term technical strategy and contribute to building a high-performance engineering culture.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & ArchitectureLead system design, architectural decision-making, and solution evaluation to ensure delivery of scalable, secure, and robust software systems.Set engineering direction and influence technical standards, patterns, frameworks, and best practices across teams.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies that strengthen organizational capabilities and innovation.Mentorship & Team DevelopmentMentor software engineers at all levels, fostering growth in technical skills, decision-making, and problem-solving.Promote engineering excellence through knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.Support teams in resolving complex technical challenges and elevating the overall quality of software delivery.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with product owners, business stakeholders, and leadership to ensure technical solutions align with strategic objectives.Contribute to multi-team technical strategies and promote a cohesive, collaborative engineering culture.Communicate architectural direction, trade-offs, and technical risks with clarity and precision.Software Quality, Security & DeliveryChampion secure coding practices, code quality standards, and effective design principles to ensure consistent, maintainable software.Influence and support DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development workflows.Advocate for improved efficiency, reliability, and performance across the software development lifecycle.Strategic & Organizational ImpactParticipate in technology roadmap discussions and provide expert technical guidance to senior leadership.Drive initiatives that enhance long-term platform stability, scalability, and innovation.Take on additional responsibilities aligned with organizational priorities and emerging needs.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.6–8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, with demonstrated technical leadership.Technical ExpertiseDeep knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, cloud technologies, and scalable system design.Experience with modern software development practices, Agile methodologies, and DevOps principles.Proven ability to influence engineering direction and improve technical quality across teams.Leadership & CommunicationStrong ability to mentor engineers, guide technical strategy, and support cross-team problem-solving.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of translating complex technical topics for diverse audiences.Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders and contributing to organization-level engineering decisions.Spirit Omega is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
