Municipal Civil Engineer

Job DescriptionAECOM is searching for a Civil Engineer - Water to be based in our Burnaby, BC office for our Water and Wastewater conveyance group. The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, the design and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles.  You will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.  You will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. You will be supporting in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector. The responsibilities of this position include:Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilitiesPrepare documentation for design projects and reportsPrepare construction cost estimatesPreparation of project specifications and contract documentsPerform constructability reviews, contract administration, construction inspections Familiarity with hydraulic models including for green infrastructureAssistance with proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and schedulingQualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in civil engineering  4+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administrationEligible for registration as a P.Eng with EGBC or within 6 months of hire PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS6+ years of experience with civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administrationTraining and experience in project managementExperience in proposal writing and job scopingWorking knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment, including both gravity and pressurized systemsFamiliarity with Hydraulic Modelling platformsWorking knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.MMCD Contract Administration certificationExcellent written skills needed for technical reportsProficient with MS Office SuiteValid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle Excellent attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clientsComfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environmentAdditional InformationSponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
