Director, Geomechanics As part of the Corporate Technical Services team, the Director of Geomechanics will be responsible for ensuring the stability and safety of our underground and open pit mining operations. This position, based in Toronto, is responsible for developing and monitoring ground control programs at our sites to minimize the risk of ground instability and ensure safe and efficient mining processes. Team development, mentoring, technical proficiency and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management at our sites and corporate office are key to success in the role. Primary Responsibilities Aid, educate and support mine site technical departments in the technical plan creation for survey, ground control, planning, seismicity, stress modelling, drill and blast, ventilation, geology and paste fill for the various Alamos mine sites. Aid in the creation of the annual operating budgets and capital budgets for the various mine sites and the creation of the budget physicals. Providing support and feedback to the mine sites for the delivery of the annual business plan. Overseeing and aiding the mine sites on their reserves and resources process, quarterly review process and LOM schedule. Planning, developing and managing the geotechnical programs with mine site staff across the various mine sites. Lead and support internal and external audits of the ground control management plans for all operations. Analyzing and preparing recommendations and reports for geotechnical challenges, issues and concerns relating to construction, and improvements to mine operating performance and safety. Work with consultants, contractors, and educational institutions on geotechnical projects and assessments. Developing and assisting with feasibility studies and mine design for new mine development. Conducting due diligence for prospective mine purchases focusing on mine design, mine scheduling and geotechnical aspects. Aiding mine sites in analysis and rehabilitation with the occurrences of large seismic events and challenges.
