Job Description :We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the Director, Strategy and Communications. This pivotal role will drive strategic initiatives and lead internal communications efforts to advance Sun Life's digital and technology priorities, with a focus on our Canadian business.Reporting to the AVP, Technology Strategy and Transformation, Digital and Client Technology Solutions (DCTS), you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our strategic vision while ensuring effective communication of our initiatives internally.Key AccountabilitiesStrategySupport the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with Sun Life Canada's technology and digital transformation goalsCollaborate with senior leadership to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and integrated roadmapsLead portfolio management for key initiatives, establishing metrics and governance processesIdentify opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on business impact and client needsDevelop and maintain an operating calendar for strategic planning activitiesCommunicationsCreate and execute a comprehensive internal communication strategy that showcasethe DCTS transformation, innovation and execution successOversee key internal communications and storytelling initiatives with compelling narratives and contentFuel employee engagement through strategic and innovative internal communicationsOversee planning of key events for the DCTS teamLead the use of new communication channelsLeadership and CollaborationLead and develop a high-performing team of communications and strategy professionalsFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learningCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and prioritization of strategic initiatives and communication efforts, with the employee experience top of mind.Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and external partnersWhat do you need to succeed?Experienced Communications leader with internal communications and multi-channelexpertiseStrong business acumen and understanding of technology trends and industry best practicesStrong story telling skills and an eye for graphic design to support the delivery of impactful communications campaigns Self-starter with a proactive ability to initiate integrated communications plans, to own execution and measure results across multiple channels A proven strategic ability to lead a team to plan, prioritize and collaborate with cross-functional team to meet tight deadlines and deliver measurable results Ability to manage and coach team members to help them grow and developExcellent interpersonal, leadership, strategic thinking and project management skillsAssets10 or more years of experience in communications and strategy roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacityBilingual (English, French) Understanding of technology trends and digital transformationExperience in developing engaging digital internal content strategiesExperience with multimedia communications, including video or graphic designExperience with preparing executives for a variety of speaking engagement styles (e.g panel, keynote, breakout facilitation)Familiarity with Agile/Digital leadership environmentsFor Quebec Residents: Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required as the position includes managing French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.What’s in it for you?Great Place to Work® Certified for Most Trusted Executive Team in Canada – 2025, 2024 and 2023Great Place to Work® Certified for Best Workplaces in Canada - 2025Canada Order of Excellence for Mental Health at Work® certification from Excellence Canada.
