You have a positive attitude and can make any situation betterYou love connecting with people and building long lasting relationshipsYou’re flexible and open-minded.You have energy to spare.You’re a calm, cool and collected team member.The important details:Position Title: Group Fitness Instructor (Aquafit)Location: Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre - 9145 Corbould St, Chilliwack, BC V2P 4A6Terms: Permanent, Part Time 2-10 hours per weekShift: Shifts vary and include weekdays, evenings and weekendsRate: $30.54 per hourBenefits: FREE Gym membership Nature & Scope: The Aquafit Instructor will report to the Fitness Supervisor and work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun aquatics environment. Your qualifications:Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 2 years)CPR level C and & AED certificate (valid within 1 year)YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalentAdvanced leadership courses are an assetDemonstrated high level of customer service skills Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date 3 professional referencesYour responsibilities:Teach aquafit classes in a positive and professional mannerBuild meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleaguesPromote philanthropy through the YMCA’s annual campaignDevelop lesson plans for various aquafit programs Ensure program design, lay-out, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levelsLead program delivery, while ensuring contents meet the appropriate criteria and outlinePerform general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilitiesEnsure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff, including all locker rooms and spectator viewing areas.Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas, common spaces, and washroomsAssist with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practices Remain flexible – willing to learn new skills, alter shiftsAttend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as requiredMaintain regular attendance, punctuality and be appropriately dressed and well groomed YMCA BC is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible environment where all members of our community feel valued, respected, and supported.
