QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceRegistration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant, with two years' recent related medical and/or surgical experience. When applicants have completed this specialty training they will be moved into a regular position within the Specialty department.Skills And Abilities Demonstrated knowledge and competencies of full scope of Practice currently required by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Tolerance for a climate of constant change, fast-paced activities, and diverse responsibilities. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all members of the interdisciplinary team throughout all aspects of patient care. Demonstrated ability for good observation and patient/client assessment skills and recognizing the need to seek assistance when required. Strong interprofessional skills. Ability to collaborate with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position including standing for long periods of time, pushing/pulling equipment and lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work for self and others while also responding to and prioritizing the requests/needs of the surgical team. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including computer and a variety of windows based software and surgical equipment/supplies. Ability to think critically and problem solve. Provide culturally sensitive care and services. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of interdisciplinary teams. Maintain a commitment to continued professional development as required by the employer and/or the College.
