The Senior Director will function in a technologically advanced,dynamicand complex global investment environment.BCI is on an innovation journey, thisa great opportunityfor a senior leader who embraces this and can instill this approach within their team and take them to the next level.THE OPPORTUNITYThe Finance department is part of BCI Operations andis responsible forinvestment and corporate accounting, valuations, as well as financial statements and financial reporting to our clients.Financial Reporting & Valuations is made up of two teams, Financial Reporting and Valuations who combinedare responsible forthe daily price verification for Fixed Income and Public Equity securities as well as the quarterly and year-end valuation processes for BCI’s private market investment portfolio, including Private Equity, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, and Private Credit. The branch also resolves IFRS accounting and valuation issues across all asset classes, prepares annual financial statements for BCI programs, pooled funds, and Combined Funds, and reports and presents financialand valuation information to BCI’s Valuation Committee and Board and Board-related committees. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHReporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance (SVP) and CFO, the Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Valuations provides proactive strategic leadership to the branch as the branch evolves its operations and systems.This role will workwith and build relationships across BCI with a focus on our private asset classesWHAT YOU BRINGCPA or equivalent designation (CFA, CBV preferred)Minimum 15 years of progressive financial reporting and accounting experience in the investment or securities industry, including at least 10 years of strong leadership experience managing a team of professionalsIn-depth understanding of IFRS accounting standards and their application to complex investment products and structures across multiple asset classesStrong technicalexpertisein the valuation of public and private market investments, including experience with valuation methodologies for Private Equity, Infrastructure, Renewable Resources, and Private CreditExperience with investment tax structuring and financial reporting standardsAbilitytoestablishand maintain strong governance frameworks and internal controlsExperience leading and developing high-performing teams through coaching, talent development, and performance managementStrategic and proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefing materials and present complex financial and valuation matters to executive leadership, Audit Committee, Board of Directors,ValuationCommitteeand external clientsAbility to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels, driving continuous improvement and change in a demanding environmentWHAT YOU WILL DOStrategic Leadership & Team Development Provides strategic leadership to Finance as a Steering Committee member, influencing organizational strategy and engagement while building key stakeholder relationships across BCILeads the Financial Reporting & Valuations branch, ensuring effective delivery of accounting and financial reporting services as the branch evolves operations and systemsDrivesshort- and long-term Finance strategies, settingkeyperformance and risk indicators tomonitorprogress and business changesChampions cross-functional collaboration and leverages networks to align with best practices and deliver innovative solutionsEnsures adherence to internal controls, efficient resource allocation, and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting standards, while proactively managing operational risksPreparesand presents analysisand recommendationsto the Valuation Committee, Audit Committee, Board ofDirectorsand seniorleadershipValuations Leadsthe Valuations team responsible for daily valuation operations and ensurestimely,accuratevaluations across all investment productsOversees the valuation of public and private market investments, including daily price verification for fixed income and public equity securitiesDirects quarterly and year-end valuation processes for BCI's private market investment portfolio, including Private Equity, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, and Private CreditProvides subject matterexpertiseon complex valuation issues for both liquid and illiquid investment productsMaintains independence and integrity while reviewing valuation reports prepared by external and internal stakeholdersAdvises on and recommends accounting, valuation, and reporting policies to ensure alignment with client and stakeholder requirements and BCI policiesFinancial Reporting Directs the production of financial statements for all investment pools, pooled funds, and combined funds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with reporting standardsOversees the production of client accounting reports and ensures key branch goals,objectives, and deliverables are achievedProvides subject matterexpertiseon accounting disclosures, reporting requirements, and complex accounting issues, researching and documenting conclusions as neededEnsures the application of IFRS accounting principles, industry standards, and professional judgment across diverse initiativesActs as the primary liaison with external and internal auditors, coordinating audit activities andresponsesActs as a subject matter expert for accounting and financial reporting matters on system conversion and enhancement projectsWHERE YOU WILL WORKThis role will be based in our headquarters in Victoria, BC, Canada. SALARY RANGE The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is $180,000 - $230,000.BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance.
