Associate Director, Patient Advocacy – Canada

Reporting to the General Manager, Canada, the Associate Director of Patient Advocacy will lead the development and execution of patient advocacy strategies across Canada, with a strong focus on rare diseases such as CIDP and gMG. This role will serve as the Canadian lead for patient advocacy and will collaborate closely with global and regional teams to ensure alignment and impact.Roles and Responsibilities:Lead the development and implementation of the Canadian Patient Advocacy strategy for rare diseases, in coordination with global and regional teamsBuild and maintain strong relationships with Canadian patient advocacy organizations, rare disease coalitions, and public health stakeholdersDevelop SOPs and “ways of working” for sponsorships, grants, and patient empowerment programsRepresent Canada in the Global Patient Advocacy Community and contribute to global initiativesCollaborate with cross-functional teams (Medical, Market Access, Communications, Regulatory) to integrate patient insights into strategic planningSupport strategic engagement with priority stakeholders including policymakers, healthcare professionals, and advocacy leadersEnsure consistency and alignment of Canadian strategies with global and regional objectivesAct as the primary point of contact for patient groups in Canada and support co-creation of initiatives that reflect patient needs and valuesSkills and Competencies:Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentExperience implementing patient advocacy with measurable impactDeep understanding of the Canadian healthcare landscape, including rare disease policy, HTA processes, and patient access pathwaysStrong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex ideas clearlyAbility to influence without authority and build trust across disciplinesExcellent written and oral communication skills; comfortable presenting to diverse audiencesAgile, resilient, and collaborative team playerPassionate about co-creation, innovation, empowerment, excellence, and humilityEducation, Experience and Qualifications:10-12 years’ experience in patient advocacy, public policy, or external affairs within biotech/pharmaBachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant fieldExperience working with Canadian patient organizations and rare disease communitiesPrior involvement in brand teams or cross-functional strategic planningExperience managing external agencies and budgetsBilingual (English/French) preferredOther:Travel required: ~30% across Canada and occasional global meetingsLanguage: English required; French preferred#LI-Remote
