As a Lifeguard with VCH you will:

Be responsible for the conduct and safety of all persons in or near the pool as well as leading pool programs in a safe and professional manner. Check the pool area, monitor the general operation and cleanliness of the pool facility, provide instruction in aquatic programs and adapted aquatic exercise, report observations of client's/resident's progress, organize furnishings and equipment and maintain an inventory of first aid and office equipment. Perform first aid as required and office tasks pertinent to the daily operation of the facility.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Graduation from Grade 12 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. National Lifeguard Pool Option Certificate. CPR-C Basic Rescuer Certificate, Standard First Aid Certificate or equivalent. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate or equivalent. Experience as an Aquafit Instructor is an asset.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize work. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to deal with others effectively.

Closing Statement

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
