Apply today to join our teamAs a Food Service Worker with VCH you will:Perform a variety of duties according to Food Safe protocols and quality and safety standards including:portioning and serving meals,assisting with food production by washing and peeling vegetables and fruit,preparing coffee/tea and toast,portioning desserts and assembling sandwiches and salads;preparing and portioning diet items in accordance with nutritional plans; and measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients by methods such as grinding, blending, slicing, dicing and/or puree.Checks patient/resident meals/trays to ensure dietary accuracy.Strip wagons/trays, wash dishes and pots, clean food wagons, kitchen equipment, fridges and storage areas and wipe down tables and counter areas.Sweep and damp mop floors and remove garbage.Deliver wagons/trays to patient/resident units.Retrieve and store food items.Replenishe food, beverage and paper supplies.Perform related clerical dutiesMay operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change for items purchased.Answers customer queries. Qualifications Education & ExperienceGrade 10 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Food Safe Certificate Level 1.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.
