Job descriptionMagil Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to join our teamReporting to the Director of Field Operations , the Field Engineer will perform various duties while supporting the Site Superintendent. This position is also responsible for assisting in evaluation and solution of potential field problems as well as in the supervision of trade employees (e.g. electrical, piping, structural steel, rebar, duct work, etc.).ResponsibilitiesCreate, maintain and execute project plans and schedules while ensuring it stays within budgetEnsure on-site safety and efficiency at all timesObtain necessary information for engineers, designers, inspectors, municipal authorities, and ownersEnsure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulationsPerform layout work competently, accurately and efficientlyProvide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractorsCoordinate inspections with consultants and authorities as required by the contractAssist Superintendent by enforcing quality control, expediting subcontractorsDetermine solutions to conflicts in drawings and specifications by consulting and coordinating with subtradesReview shop drawings for conformance with the contract and ensure information is communicated to the foreman and superintendent Qualifications2+ years of construction site experience (or similar)Post-secondary education in Engineering or other relevant industryFull working knowledge of planning and scheduling, surveying techniques, equipment standards and procedures are necessaryEffective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional mannerExcellent problem-solving skills backed by solid technical knowledgeAbility to work under pressure and complete tasks in a timely mannerAbility to read blueprints and develop As-BuiltsAbility to assume responsibilityAbility to travel a mustMagil Construction values diversity and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
