We are currently seeking an experienced Fort Whoop-Up Site Coordinator to develop and supervise operations at Fort Whoop-Up, in order to fulfill the organization's vision and mission, as well as its strategic goals and objectives.

The Opportunity:

The Galt Museum & Archives is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of southwestern Alberta. We are seeking a multi-skilled, experienced heritage professional to join us and assist with the overall growth of the experiences at the Fort Whoop-Up site. Our successful candidate is a team player with skills to work with a range of specialty museum staff and volunteers to accomplish our public service goals.

Wage: $35.32 per hour

Term: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week 

Specific responsibilities will include:

Assisting with development plans including programming, projects, interpretation, tours, exhibits, education and outreach Coordinating all aspects of off-season visitor activities including rentals, special events, curriculum student access, resource protection, safety, and non-routine maintenance Participating in the recruitment, interviews and selection of staff Assigning projects and supervises seasonal staff and volunteers, setting priorities, work schedules, and evaluating personnel Reporting of performance indicators such as evaluations, visitation and program numbers Building store inventory, maintaining stock, pricing, and sales Purchasing supplies, equipment and services for day-to-day operation of the site Ensuring that facilities, equipment and property is maintained Other related duties as required

We are looking for individuals with the following skills and abilities:

A minimum of two years of post-secondary education in an applicable field Knowledge of regional history and experience in practices of historic interpretation and education Experience in leading people would be considered an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in point of sale (POS) systems Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems
