Formed in 2009, OCL started their first project and began building around a business model focused on “People” and “Doing the Job Right”.  Learn more about OCL here: www.oclgroup.ca   The Role We are currently recruiting for experienced Scaffolder Foreman t o join our team at Kearl Oil Sands , a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will work in a safety-first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.  This project is 6 months in duration and will be starting mid-February.    Compensation/Benefits CLAC hourly wages Payday is every Friday Company contributed RRSP & Pension contributions Benefits after 300 hours Paid training 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day   Job Duties/Responsibilities The Scaffolder Foreman is responsible for leading the scaffolding crew, overseeing all scaffolding operations on the project site, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required specifications. Supervision and Leadership: Directly supervise and manage the daily activities of the scaffolding crew. Conduct pre-job safety meetings, daily toolbox talks, and crew briefings. Mentor and train scaffolders on proper techniques, safety protocols, and company standards. Ensure all personnel have the necessary certifications and personal protective equipment (PPE). Planning and Execution: Read, interpret, and implement scaffolding designs, drawings, and work scope documents. Coordinate with other trades, site supervision, and client representatives to schedule and prioritize scaffolding needs. Calculate material requirements, submit requisitions, and manage inventory of scaffolding components (tubes, fittings, boards, etc.). Oversee the safe and correct erection, modification, and dismantling of complex scaffolding structures (e.g., system scaffold, tube and coupler, suspended scaffolds). Safety and Compliance: Enforce all site safety rules, regulations, and company health and safety policies (e.g., fall protection, dropped object prevention, working at heights). Conduct regular inspections of erected scaffolds, logging and documenting checks in accordance with regulatory requirements. Identify and mitigate potential hazards and unsafe working conditions. Investigate and report all incidents, accidents, or near misses involving the scaffolding crew or equipment. Quality Control and Documentation: Ensure the quality of work meets industry standards and engineering specifications. Maintain accurate records of work performed, time sheets, and crew activities. Sign off on inspection tags (e.g., green tags) and maintain the scaffold register.  Skills/Qualifications/Education Journeyman Scaffolder certification (or provincial/state equivalent) 5-10 years experience as a qualified Scaffolder, with a significant portion of that time spent in a supervisory or Foreman role. Possession of required industry-standard safety tickets (e.g., CSTS-2020, H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space). Excellent verbal skills for conducting safety meetings, briefings, and coordinating with site management. Deep knowledge of complex scaffolding systems (system, tube and coupler, suspended), including safe erection, modification, and dismantling procedures. Ability to direct, manage, mentor, and train a crew effectively.
