Senior/Corporate Underwriter, Commercial Insurance

Description :We are seeking an experienced Corporate Underwriter to join our Commercial team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting underwriting complex risks, maintaining profitability, and supporting strategic growth initiatives on property and/or auto. You will work closely with various internal stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions that meet business objectives.Salary Range: $69,341 - $112,149/year *What We Offer:Award winning cultureFlexible hybrid working conditions (1 day in the office per week)Group Benefits from first dayDefined Benefits pension planGenerous time off benefitsGrowth opportunitiesResponsibilities: Implement corporate strategies and goals and provide recommendations for improvementEnsure adherence to underwriting standards, reinsurance treaty restrictions, capacity limits, and Insurance Act regulationsConduct underwriting audits and submit reports as per guidelinesEvaluate program opportunities, recommend action plans, and manage programs as directedStay updated on industry trends, market conditions and recommend product changes or risk appetite adjustments to remain competitive positionMaintain updated wordings, manuals, rates, and marketing materials on the commercial intranetCollaborate with the Technical Committee to develop system improvements and underwriting guidelinesAssist in developing new products, including wordings, underwriting rules, and ratesAct as a technical resource for underwriting, actuary, claims, brokers, IT, and managementWorks with commercial team on risks exceeding authority levelManage training requirements for the commercial department and lead technical sessionsQualifications:University or College degree; CIP designation is required. CRM an assetMinimum 8 years underwriting experience in commercial lines. Management experience as assetIn-depth technical knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and pricing methodologiesStrong understanding of commercial rates and market dynamicsExcellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skillsEffective IT skills to manage corporate systems: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OPUSDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilitiesStrong business acumen and customer service orientationInterested in a career in a company where collaboration and diversity of expertise are at the forefront?
