We serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada. Location This position is based in Barrie, Ontario Responsibilities Lead the environmental compliance for a project Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company. Develop and update environmental plans. Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, air, noise, vibration, soils). Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection in advance of construction activities. Maintain project data tracking requirements. Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level. Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels. Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues. Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices. Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities. Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents. Participate in project audits (both internal and external). Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management. Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies. Liaise with the clients; providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues. Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts. Qualifications Ability to travel and relocate as needed. Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field, or related. 10-15 years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects. Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred. Experience coordinating a multi-disciplinary team Experience with specialist disciplines, plans, and permitting Knowledge of soil and water contaminants Knowledge of and experience with Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA Document, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario) Knowledge of and experience with relevant federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures and legislation Experience liaising with other specialty consultants, contractors and governmental authorities Experience with linear infrastructure projects in Southern Ontario, including experience in environmental compliance duties on transit projects in Ontario Pipeline inspection experience highly desirable. Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time. Effective and strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent organization abilities and time management skills. Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Superior interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
