We take pride in our employees and place a high-value on establishing a workplace where people are challenged and respected every day. SummaryAre you a reliable and professional person with your Class 1?  Are you looking for a new opportunity where you will be apart of a company who values your contributions?  Wapiti Gravel Suppliers is currently seeking Class 1 Drivers to join our team   Key ResponsibilitiesOperate a variety of Class 1 trucks, including but not limited to, the Tandem, Tri-Dump, End-Dump, Side-Dump, Clam-Dump, Belly-Dump and Live Bottom Trucks and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.Perform pre-and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.Ensure required paperwork, including trip logs and inspection reports are accurately completed and submitted.Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment used is properly positioned.Ensure proper loading of asphalt and aggregates, while minimizing segregation, which can adversely affect the quality of the roads surface.Verify the type and weight of the materials being hauled.Move hand and foot controls to jerk truck forward and backwards to loosen and dump material adhering to body.Ensure the on-time delivery of asphalt, aggregates and other road construction materials, reducing bottlenecks in the construction process.Continuously feed hot mix asphalt into the paver through a direct discharge method.Hose, shovel or take out the truck box to remove debris, when necessary.Ensure all vehicle documents and applicable permits are valid and present in the vehicle.Perform minor vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues that require attention.Represent the company professionally when driving and interacting with members of the public.Perform housekeeping duties to ensure truck is kept in a tidy manner.Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. Qualifications | RequirementsHigh school diploma, preferred.Class 1 Drivers License is required.Experience within the road construction industry considered an assetMinimum 3 to 5 years’ experience operating a variety of truck styles.Working ConditionsOvernight and out of town travel may be required on rare occasions.Overtime as required.Work is primarily performed in an indoor setting, which could include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, and wrist dexterity.Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required.Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.What's In It For You?We are pleased to offer the successful candidate an attractive and competitive wage, accommodations and live out allowance (LOA) as applicable, extended health benefits with STD and LTD, company matching RPP plan, educational assistance, excellent opportunities for professional growth, and more If this sounds like an exciting opportunity you would enjoy, hit the apply button Wapiti Gravel Suppliers is pleased to offer the successful candidate an attractive wage, comprehensive benefits, including a pension plan, educational assistance, excellent opportunities for professional growth, and more.We thank all candidates for their interest in a position with Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, however, only candidates selected to move forward will be contacted.
