What you'll be doing:
Part of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct health care services to patients presenting with a wide variety of complex addictions and mental health issues, perform physical, addiction, and mental status assessments and refer patients to the physician for further examination.
You will also observe, monitor, evaluate and document patient progress, symptoms and behavioral changes and perform a variety of health care interventions, working collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team, the patient, families and the community.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor degree or College Diploma from an accredited Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing program Two years' recent related experience in a mental health and/or substance use setting Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals Comprehensive knowledge of mental disorders, addictions and concurrent disorders, and the treatment and principles of recovery in mental illness and addictions, including suicide prevention, treatment and emergency response Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology, chemical dependency, addictions treatment, psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects) as well as psychotherapeutic and counseling skills First Aid/CPR Certification for health care providers (Level 1 or greater) Knowledge of evidence-based best practices and issues in the care and treatment of mental disorders, addictions, and concurrent disorders Familiarity with community, social and mental health resources Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of patients Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills Effective conflict resolution and aggressive behaviour management; use of non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural management techniquesAs part of our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community from COVID-19, and as required by BC Health Authorities, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Homewood Ravensview requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.
