GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE We are looking for a team player committed to maintaining NVRC’s facilities in order to provide excellent experiences for our customers. You will be responsible for cleaning and vacuuming swimming pools; testing and regulating water for proper chemical balance; and back washing filters to ensure that water purity and cleanliness meet established standards. You will also perform building maintenance, routine janitorial duties and minor repair tasks; inspect stationary equipment and related controls; record gauge readings and report any malfunctions to a superior; and carry out security checks to ensure patrons adhere to facility rules and regulations. ABOUT YOU You are courteous and effective with patrons and ensure observance of facility rules and regulations. You have a working knowledge of the operating methods and procedures of water chlorination and filtration equipment; working knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in building maintenance and janitorial work; ability to operate water chlorination and filtration equipment; ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance and minor repair tasks, and to perform routine janitorial duties; ability to work under minimal supervision, to ensure that janitorial tasks are completed; ability to prepare and maintain a variety of simple records related to the work; and skill in the use and care of equipment used in the work. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: You have completed Grade 10, supplemented by technical training related to the work plus related experience or have an equivalent combination of training and experience. REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS: A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and a Pool Operator Level 1 and 2 certificates or equivalent. Building Service Worker certificate is an asset.All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. The pay for this unionized auxiliary position starts at step 1, $27.67 and ranges up to $32.52 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. This is an auxiliary on-call position involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends. Shifts may include 22:00 - 06:00.
