If you are looking for interesting and challenging work, at a company committed to its people, find out more about what Aviso has to offer at www.aviso.ca.The Opportunity: We’re looking to fill an opening for a VP, Technology Operations & Support to join our IT team.Reporting to the SVP, Chief Digital & Technology Officer, the VP, Technology Operations & Support is responsible for technology operations and support encompassing all infrastructure systems, applying the principles of service excellence and provides highly specialized support, advice, guidance, leadership, and management to customers in all areas of Aviso technology systems and services. This position will drive the strategic direction of IT to define and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable IT systems and solutions for our employees and partners.Who you are: Service – You put your clients’ needs first. You delegate and deliver feedback based on the in-depth understanding of your individual team membersWhat your day looks like:Provides the vision and directs the daily operations of all application infrastructures that include dev, test, pre-production, and production environmentsManages production technology incidents to resolution, ensuring timely engagement, escalation and effective communication to business, technology, and other stakeholdersResponsible for reporting and meeting SLA targets and other key metrics like systems uptime, performance, and response timesSupport the SVP, CIO to assist with budget development, cost control, licensing, resource and asset planning and utilization. Ensure effective alignment with business and IT leadersDevelopment of departmental and team goals and ensure departmental plans are aligned with overall IT strategy and corporate goalsRemain current on industry trends as well as future strategic developments within technology, make recommendations to create revenue, reduce costs or take advantage of business and technical opportunities to operating departments within the companyProvides input and thought leadership to the overall IT strategyDevelop and implement technology policies and procedures, including those for disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provisioningAdminister agreements and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure technology products and services. Maintain external relations to ensure the continued successful delivery of technology servicesDirect, develop, manage, and test corporate technology backup and disaster recovery policies, procedures, and standards. Responsible for disaster recovery for all technology systemsProvide IT related project consultation services to our internal and external customers. Participate in business case preparation for business line managers as requiredManage relationships with executives and business line managers focused on service level agreements, scope and deliverables of business applications initiatives, ongoing review of business requirements and escalation of service issuesDirect the research and analysis process conducted by personnel in the evaluation and delivery of new enterprise computing products, services, and technology. Ensure that any new technology integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specificationsFoster and encourage a team environment with the necessary depth of commitment to respond to dynamic and often unpredictable deadlines and prioritiesRequirementsYour experience and skills:Post-secondary degree, technical school graduate15 years’ technology work experience including senior management level experience5 years’ experience in a technology service delivery capacity Thorough understanding of corporate structure, divisional focus, and departmental responsibilitiesBroad knowledge and expertise in technology focused business practicesAbility to foster relationships with peers and executivesAbility to manage unforeseen and emergency technical situations that may ariseUnderstanding of Services Agreements as related to commercial IT systemsExcellent understanding of computer hardware and systems technologyProven ability to manage and implement projects involving cross-departmental teamsStrong negotiating, communication, and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational, delegation and administrative skills requiredFinancial or Insurance industry experience is an assetFinancial analysis and business case development experience is desiredKnowledge of applicable data privacy and financial regulationsFluent Communications in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an assetBenefitsWhy Aviso?At Aviso, you will find a dynamic and inclusive culture that rewards innovation and celebrates success.
