Job DescriptionPartner Staffing is the "go to recruiter" for difficult, important, and time sensitive positions in Western Canada.  We work with proactive clients who understand the importance of having exceptional staff. Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Wetland Ecologist to join their environmental consulting team in Calgary or Edmonton. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing wetland projects, including assessments, regulatory applications, and habitat restoration. This position focuses on Alberta-specific regulatory processes, particularly Wetland Impact Reports (WIRFs) and Wetland Assessment and Replacement Reports (WARFs).RequirementsKey Responsibilities:Conduct wetland delineation, classification, and functional assessments using Alberta Wetland Policy guidelines and field protocols.Prepare and submit Wetland Impact Reports (WIRFs), Wetland Assessment and Replacement Reports (WARFs), and associated regulatory documentation to provincial authorities.Collaborate with government agencies, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable wetland policies and regulations.Plan and conduct field studies, including vegetation surveys, hydrology monitoring, and soil sampling in boreal and parkland regions.Use GIS software to develop wetland maps and analyze spatial data.Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outputs that meet client and regulatory expectations.Design and oversee wetland restoration or compensation projects, ensuring alignment with Alberta’s Wetland Policy.Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related field.Eligibility for or possession of P.Biol. designation with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) is strongly preferred.4+ years of experience in wetland assessment, regulatory processes, and restoration projects in Alberta.Strong understanding of Alberta Wetland Policy, WIRFs, and WARFs.GIS mapping and data analysis considered an assetExcellent technical writing and communication skills.Familiarity with vegetation and hydrology field techniques specific to boreal and parkland regions.Experience in permitting and consultation for industrial, oil and gas, and infrastructure projects.BenefitsPartner Staffing is Bringing Talent to Business.  With an experienced and dedicated recruitment team, we open doors to opportunities that you may not otherwise know about.  We are specialists in the field of providing high quality individuals to the Oil & Gas sector, Engineering/Procurement/Construction, and Utilities industries.  We look forward to hearing from you and discussing how we might be able to promote your career We are always interested in your referrals as well.  We assist recruitment efforts in Environmental, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology and AdministrationRequirementsAbout the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years’ experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: · Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) · Fish identification · Bird survey methodology and bird identification · Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification · Erosion and Sediment Control · Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
