Full job descriptionJoin Beacon as a temporary full-time Early Childhood Educator – Infant Toddler supporting our TEAM II Childcare location.The Beacon Community Services Teen Education and Motherhood (TEAM) program is offered in partnership with School District 63 located at the Individual Learning Center. Along with other community members, young parents who are working towards graduation (or balancing paid work with family life) get support and safe, quality care for their children at our TEAM II Child Care Centre. Newton Cross Rd, SaanichtonClosing Date: Applications will be accepted until the position is filledPOSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Childcare Manager, the Infant Toddler Early Childhood Educator supports and strengthens our child care programs by creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for infants and toddlers. The Infant Toddler Early Childhood Educator promotes physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development by designing and implementing age-appropriate activities and providing individualized care to meet the unique needs of each child. In collaboration with parents and caregivers, they ensure consistent care and support. Additionally, the Infant Toddler Early Childhood Educator maintains a safe and clean environment, observes and documents children’s progress, and communicates effectively with families and team members to foster a positive and inclusive learning community for young children. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide quality childcare and programming to children enrolled in the programFollow the guidance received from the Childcare ManagerDemonstrate teamwork to create and maintain an inclusive program and childcare environmentProvide a safe, accepting and supportive environment while engaging both the children and families in the programRole model safe practices, caregiving and learning opportunities for parentsMaintain the safety and well-being of all children and families enrolled in the programUse developmentally appropriate practice to plan, implement and evaluate a range of activitiesProvide parents with current updates on the program and their children’s progress/development, using a variety of communication mediumsAssist children in a manner that supports their ongoing successProvide nutritionally valuable foods for the children following Food Safe standards and guidelinesBe aware of and follow the program’s philosophies and policies, while also being aware of families’ philosophies to provide inclusive, safe and culturally aware programming and careAdhere to BC Child Care Regulations and School LegislationBe aware of and strive to maintain the policies and procedures created and implemented by Beacon Community ServicesReport any concerns to the Childcare ManagerAttend to daily housekeeping of the centreQUALIFICATIONS:ECE certificate with IT specializationValid ECE ITE BC License to Practice2 years of experience as and ECE – ITPrevious experience working with children, families and working within childcare settingsValid First Aid certificate, as outlined by Child Care Regulations (to be renewed upon expiry)Valid FoodSafe certificateMinimum of 40 professional development hours every 5 years as outlined by license to practice standardsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAn energetic, nurturing and sensitive attitude that encourages developmentAbility to work individually and as a member of a teamAbility to maintain professional composure and attitude, even in high-stress situationsA demeanour that creates safe, trusting relationships with clientsStrong verbal and written communication skillsADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Beacon Community Services serves vulnerable populations, including seniors, people with disabilities and children.
