Position SummaryThe Opportunity Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Fort St. John Primary Care team. This casual position offers flexibility and the chance to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages. The NP will attach a patient panel and contribute to a collaborative, culturally safe care environment supported by physicians, other nurse practitioners, primary care assistants, and an interprofessional team. Key Responsibilities Deliver longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population. Attach patients per the Provincial Attachment System (PAS) guidelines. Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documentation and care coordination. Collaborate with a supportive team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Participate in team-based care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skills Eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner. Experience in primary care across the lifespan. Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed care. About the Clinic The Fort St John Primary care facility located in Fort St. John. The clinic has a team of family physicians and MOAs and shares its location with other clinics where Nurse Practitioners work. Northern Health’s approach to person and family-centered care involves creating health care teams, which include your doctor or nurse practitioner and other health care professionals, to provide a range of health care services. The quality-of-care increases by providing continuity of care over time and across settings and will result in better long-term health outcomes. About the Community Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. About Fort St. John Hospital Fort St. John Hospital is a modern healthcare facility serving northeastern British Columbia. Opened in 2012, the hospital provides a wide range of services including emergency care, inpatient medical and surgical units, maternity and newborn care, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient clinics. It is co-located with Peace Villa, a residential care facility, allowing for integrated services across the continuum of care. Salary Range New Graduate NP - $145,739 1 Year Experience - $153,026 2 Years Experience - $160,313QualficationsEducation and Experience-Completion of BCCNM approved Master’s degree level nurse practitioner program.- Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.- Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.- Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research.- Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.- Ability to implement and evaluate planned change.- Ability to supervise others and evaluate the care they deliver.- Ability to lead a team and work within a team.- Ability to self-direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.- Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others.- Ability to identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient/resident/client care.- Ability to self-assess performance and assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistance when appropriate.
