The hourly wage for this position starts at $16.60 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement. Bakery Clerk This is a posting for an existing permanent full/part-time position Location: 255 Rideau St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5Y2Shift: Days, Evenings & Weekends Join Our Metro Team as a Bakery Clerk Bring your passion for fresh-baked goods to Metro As a Bakery Clerk, you’ll help create an inviting bakery department by ensuring products are fresh, well-stocked, and beautifully displayed. You’ll assist customers with their selections and share your knowledge of breads, pastries, and desserts. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and take pride in quality and presentation, we’d love to have you on our team What You’ll Do: Unpack and organize bakery products in the backroom and display areas. Stock shelves and counters with fresh-baked goods, ensuring proper rotation for freshness. Maintain attractive and organized displays for breads, pastries, and specialty items. Monitor product quality and remove any items that do not meet standards. Assist customers with product selection and provide information on ingredients or preparation. Answer customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly. Keep the bakery department clean and sanitized, including work surfaces and equipment. Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times. Monitor inventory levels, perform counts, and report discrepancies. Ensure accurate labeling and pricing of all bakery products. Update signage for promotions, seasonal items, and special offers. Reduce and price items as needed. Assist with special promotions, events, or projects as assigned by management. Collaborate with other departments when necessary. Additional duties as assigned by Management. Qualifications Prior bakery experience and product knowledge is recommended Customer service driven Strong Communication Skills Able to follow recipes Able to stand for prolonged periods of time Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights and weekends The responsibilities and relationships assigned to this role may change as is necessary to achieve Metro's business objectives.
