This role defines and drives the CMDB as a trusted, authoritative data product enabling service resiliency, operational maturity, cross-domain dependency mapping, automation, and governance across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, APM, and security.The Product Owner partners closely with architecture, platform engineering, asset management, network/server owners, procurement, security, and business service owners to ensure the CMDB continuously reflects reality, supports automation, and delivers meaningful business outcomes.ResponsibilitiesProduct Vision & StrategyOwn the end-to-end CMDB product vision, roadmap, and measurable outcomes aligned to Digital Service Management and Service Health initiativesDrive the CMDB toward authoritative data sources, automation, and reduced customizationDefine strategy for service mapping, dependency models, CI class lifecycle, and CMDB data standardsPartner with ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, APM, and Security to ensure the CMDB enables downstream workflows (change, incident, asset lifecycle, monitoring, discovery, HAMPro, SAMPro, etc.)Roadmap & DeliveryTranslate outcomes into clear, prioritized backlog items for engineeringDefine MVP → iterative delivery cycles for CMDB improvements (normalization, reconciliation, enrichment, integrations, class model changes)Ensure alignment with infrastructure teams (compute, storage, network, cloud) on domain-specific CI models and authoritative sourcesLead release planning, testing coordination, and user validation for CMDB enhancementsData Quality, Controls & Service HealthOwn measurable KPIs for completeness, correctness, and compliance, but emphasize service health and impact, not just static complianceDefine data quality rules, lifecycle policies, and automated validationPartner with Service Owners to ensure business services and technical service CIs have accurate dependency modelsDrive reduction of “unmodeled” or “unknown” infrastructure/servicesEnsure the platform is ready for service health dashboards, AIOps, and predictive insightsStakeholder Management & GovernanceServe as the single accountable owner for all CMDB-related intake, prioritization, and communicationRun and refine the CMDB governance model — roles, responsibilities, RACI, data stewards, CI class owners, authoritative sources, and intake channelsHost stakeholder reviews, demo sessions, and quarterly roadmapsDefine and enforce CMDB onboarding standards for new technologies and servicesArchitecture & IntegrationsPartner with solution architects to maintain an enterprise CI class model aligned with platform leading practicesEnsure integrations (discovery tools, asset repositories, procurement systems, cloud providers, monitoring tools) follow CMDB standardsEvaluate new data sources and implement normalization, reconciliation, and deduplication strategiesCollaborate with Discovery, ITOM Health, and Event Management teams on service topology and dependency mappingOperational ExcellenceMonitor ongoing CMDB operations and bottlenecks tied to incident, change, problem, and asset workflowsIdentify process gaps and drive continuous improvementSupport audit requests when needed but focus on avoiding unnecessary governance friction — build enablement, not gatekeepingSkills & ExperienceRequiredStrong understanding of ITSM/ITOM/ITAM processes and how they depend on the CMDBHands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, class modeling, CSDM, discovery, service mapping, normalization, and reconciliationAbility to translate business outcomes into technical product requirementsStrong cross-functional leadership with domain teams (network, compute, cloud, database, security)Experience managing a roadmap in an Agile product modelPreferredExperience with HAMPro, SAMPro, APM, or cloud asset inventoriesExperience driving modernization or simplification of a CMDB in a federated enterprise environmentFamiliarity with Equinix’s internal infrastructure domain models (Data Center codes, service owner model, inventory systems)Qualifications10+ years experienceBachelor's in Computer Science or Computer EngineeringThis posting is for a backfill position, meaning it is to fill an existing vacancy within our organization.The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 139,000 - 209,000 CAD / Annual Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
