Date Posted: September 9, 2025Position Title: LifeguardLocation: Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre (390 Columbia St E, Vanderhoof)Term: Permanent CasualHours:0-30 hours per weekShift: Shifts vary but will include weekdays, evenings and weekends.Start Date: ASAPSalary: $23.97 per hourReports To: Supervisor, AquaticsNature & ScopeThe Lifeguard will report to the Aquatics Supervisor and work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun aquatics environment. Major Responsibilities-in this position, you will:Guarding in a positive and professional mannerBuild meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues Perform general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilitiesPerform routine pool maintenance, as required Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff, including all locker rooms and spectator viewing areasAssist with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practices Remain flexible – willing to learn new skills, alter shifts Attend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as requiredQualifications-you bring:Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 2 years)CPR level C and & AED certificate (valid within 1 year)National Lifeguard - Pool OptionMust be at least 16 years of ageExperience as a Lifeguard - preferredYMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent – preferredAccess to reliable transportation or a vehicle Aquatic related certifications from a recognized certifying body (LSS, Red Cross, BCRPA, etc.) - preferredDemonstrated high level of customer service skills Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date3 professional referencesAbout YMCA BC:By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community.
