Description Position Objective: Maintain a safe and secure work environment by assisting in the development and improvement of all Safety, Health and Environment programs and initiatives, ensuring they are managed in-line with corporate initiatives and ensuring all governmental specifications are met Coordinate and foster a safety-focused culture and work environment Coordinate programs and processes associated with risk management/mitigation Assist in the development of a culture consistent with AB Mauri’s values Key Result Areas: Performance Standards Health and Safety Coordinate all the established AB Mauri/ABF Safety and Health Programs in accordance with the required standards. Work toward continuous improvement and growth on all scores and audits Act as Safety and Health representative with government agents to ensure safety & health issues are addressed and monitored Lead and drive the safety committee towards continuous improvement for plant Safety and Health (Target Zero initiatives) Lead and cultivate an exceptional Safety and Health culture within the plant Attend MBU meetings to support, train and develop teams on all Safety and Health initiatives Lead and implement the Behavior Based Safety Program for the plant Coordinate and implement all required safety and health programs such as confined space, lock-out tag-out, hot work, fall protection, machine guarding etc. Development and maintain site Risk Assessments to ensure employees are working in safe conditions and have all the safety equipment needed to accomplish their duties Coordinate all the necessary training programs for all employees in the plant, including all required regulatory training Coordinate and manage all incident investigations in the plant with safety team (near miss, environmental, injury, etc.) Review and follow-up on audit observations and ensure effective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence of incidents Maintain training documentation for the plant Maintain monthly KPI database information Serve as a resource/consultant regarding the development of new capital projects to ensure that all EHS issues are identified and addressed and to ensure successful management of any changes Conduct health and safety inspections of both operations and facilities, identify safety hazards and recommend corrective measures Lead and implement the Contractor Safety Program for the plant Environmental Coordinate all the Environmental programs in accordance with all Company standards and governmental regulations Act as the Environmental representative with government agents to ensure environmental issues are addressed and monitored Complete and file all environmental regulatory reports, permits and authorizations as required Complete analysis and reporting for Tier II reporting Complete all incident reports for environmental spills Qualifications A combination of the listed skills and knowledge is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Business, Safety, Human Resources or another applicable program Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working with Environment, Health & Safety programs in a manufacturing plant environment A working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Knowledge of worker’s compensation Excellent oral and written communication skills Team spirited, dynamic, innovative, results-oriented and autonomous Experience in food industry Ability to develop and implement classroom training programs for employees Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint Good organizational and multitasking skills Confidentiality a must Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk, hear and smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Other Factors Must be on call 24 hours for any environment health and safety incidence Occasional travel may be required
