We welcome all interested persons who self-identify as Indigenous, Black/African Nova Scotians, Persons of Colour, Immigrants/Newcomers, Persons with Disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ to apply to support our goal for our workforce to be representative of the patients, families, and communities that we care for at all job levels.The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Children’s Inpatient and Ambulatory Medical Care, the Registration/Scheduling Clerk is responsible for timely patient registration and processing, providing general clerical support to members of the Respirology Team, assisting clients and staff as required and scheduling of clinic appointments, both on a requested and discretionary basis. While this position is focused with the Respirology Team, the clerk will occasionally share registration/scheduling/clerical support (with other clerical staff) to other teams within Children’s Ambulatory Medical Care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Scheduling Respirology Team appointments, using discretion to accommodate various needs of clients and staff. • Coordinating appointments for patients requiring multi-disciplinary sessions. • Registering patients for Respirology clinic visits and encounters. • Greeting and directing clients. • Accurately entering patient information into CWS (Meditech). • Completing various health forms as required. • Receiving and relaying messages via phone and fax. • Maintaining adequate supplies and orders as needed. • Providing general support to clients and staff (ordering blood work, filing, photocopying, making telephone calls, workload data, etc.). Hours of Work Monday, and Wednesday - Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm Your Qualifications • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required. • Graduate of a recognized Office Administration Diploma Program an asset • Previous experience in registration and scheduling is strongly preferred • Experience in an ambulatory health care setting an asset. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology (testing may be conducted on candidates) • Data entry skills required (testing may be conducted on candidates) • Knowledge of Meditech preferred and Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) preferred • Knowledge of Medical terminology preferred • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills required • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required • Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members required • Demonstrated excellent prioritization and time management skills required. • Demonstrated high regard for quality and attention to detail required. • Demonstrated initiative; self-motivated to work independently with minimal supervision required. • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Family Centred Care required. • Competency in other languages an asset; French preferred.
