The Senior Strategic Planning Consultant supports all aspects of the planning and research responsibilities required to develop, maintain, and influence a strong organizational strategy. This role prepares financial and non-financial competitive benchmarking and cross-industry related research and analysis on behalf of the entire organization. This role has access to, and regularly works with information of the most sensitive, highly confidential, strategic and critical nature. Being well organized and a self-starter, this role involves the core skills of critical and big picture thinking, project management, research, facilitation, planning, communications and co-ordination. The scope and complexity of this position is such that the Senior Strategic Planning Consultant is regularly dealing with diverse matters which require sound knowledge of the Co-operators group of companies, the insurance and financial service sector as well as the ability to develop relationships with senior management teams across various functions of the organization.
How you will create impact:
Develop, initiate, and manage the process to create a consolidated long-term strategic plan for the Co-operators group of companies. This includes the development and co-ordination as well as an ongoing monitoring of progress against established targets. Central contact for senior management, planning partners and others across the organization regarding long-term planning communications and process management. Collaborate with the Finance division to ensure effective annual business planning processes, developing the use of business planning & reporting tools to ensure an effective and consistent approach to planning. Provide facilitation services for planning sessions of the Finance Leadership Team and other operating departments and subsidiary companies of the group of companies. Provide market and environmental insights to support senior management and board planning and decision-making. Manage distribution of competitive intelligence and industry trend research to effectively communicate results throughout the group of companies. Conduct comprehensive and in-depth research and analysis for special projects and emerging issues to support Board and executive level decisions and strategic discussions. Co-ordinate planning and discussion workshops with key stakeholders to evaluate strategic opportunities as they arise in order to ensure the application of due diligence within decision-making processes.How you will succeed:

An undergraduate, or graduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Actuarial Science or a related field. CPA or CFA designation.CIP / LOMA designation or working towards.
5+ years' experience working in Insurance or Financial Services industry, requires the ability to understand key operational and strategic metrics.
Experience in project management and the development and implementation of plans.
