Our culture is focused on providing a safe and supportive workplace including paid training, excellent benefits, a wellness program, and much more.     What you will be doing:  Cultural Coaches support ethnocultural children and youth who have been identified as in need of support adjusting to life in Canada or reconnecting to their culture. In addition to newcomers, the Coaches work with second and third generation immigrant youth who know little about their culture of origin, or fail to see the importance of being connected to their heritage. Cultural Coaches assist youth in learning more about their culture and re-establish bonds to their cultural community, thereby increasing the natural support systems surrounding the youth. With support, the Coaches hope that the youth will have a better understanding and ability to cope with the cultural differences they are experiencing in their new country, school, and community.  The desired outcome for the program is to decrease the youth’s vulnerabilities and increase strengths and resiliencies. This position reports to the Supervisor, Community Initiatives at The Family Centre.    What you will bring to the role: Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work (or) Degree in Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, Education, Human Ecology or Early Childhood Development) with experience in the field (or) Diploma in Child & Youth Care or Social Work with related experience Proficient communication, caseload management, and facilitation skills Experience working with diverse populations    Background Check Process & Requirements:  As a part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks with your most recent employers.   Police Information Check -Vulnerable Sector (completed within the last 6 months) Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months) Registration with a professional body, if eligible (such as RSW) $2 million vehicle liability insurance Reliable vehicle, available for regular use and valid driver’s license 5-year Drivers Abstract Our Children Are Sacred Youth Suicide Prevention Training or ASIST Suicide Intervention Training within 3 months of start date Standard First Aid Level C CPR within 3 months of start date    What you can expect:  Training – comprehensive onboarding/orientation process which includes service specific, leading-edge training, and agency-wide core training  Feedback – a strong reflective supervision model that provides regular formal and informal opportunities for feedback   Performance Coaching – formal and informal coaching regarding the development of personal and professional growth and development  Reasonable Accommodation – The Family Centre will provide reasonable accommodation when requested by a qualified applicant or employee  Compensation – our comprehensive compensation package offered to employees reflects a strong commitment to employee wellbeing and is competitive within the marketplace   $48,618 to $62,074 annually 36.5-hour work week Fully paid Group Benefit Plan Health spending account 3 weeks’ vacation RRSP matching Ongoing paid training Mileage compensation Paid sick time (up to 8 days per calendar year) Agency-wide social events Employee Resource Groups Closing Date: January 16, 2026 The Family Centre acknowledges that our work takes place on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and traveling route for the nehiyaw (Cree), Anishinaabe (Ojibway/Saulteaux), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Dene, and Nakota (Stoney).
