Department: Raw Material Development Reports to: Senior Materials Developer Location: North Vancouver, BC Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:As a Materials Developer 2, you are a technical developer focused on seasonal developments ranging across a variety of high-performance textiles for all activities. You are grounded in circular material development and maintain operational excellence. You develop best-in-class textiles that significantly impact the success of our product. You will learn alongside our industry partners through hands on experience. Your focus will be a high-performance circular toolbox and on-time delivery in the materials space, driving our product and our brand forward in alignment with our supply chain goals. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. Meet Your Future Team:The Raw Materials Development (RMD) Team commercializes seasonal performance textiles and trims that exceed the industry standard. We create toolbox palettes for each product category, made of innovative materials that can ultimately become brand icons for many years to come. Our success comes from our knowledge, our standards of excellence and delivering on-time material solutions, alongside our supply chain partners. If you were in the Materials Developer 2, role now, here are some of the things you’d be doing: Delivering high performance materials and technologies for our performance categories Developing and validating materials according to the Circular RM roadmap; meeting the highest quality standards within alignment to our Supply Chain strategy Utilizing your resourcefulness when faced with supply chain limitations Providing technical expertise to Design and Product teams on textile construction and finishing, as well as vendor capabilities Communicating clearly and concisely with internal and external partners to shepherd decision making and deliver on time Ensuring new developments follow our circular material guidelines to meet sustainability targets Maintaining organization and accuracy within digital workspaces Building and strengthening mill partnerships within our supply chain and leveraging capabilities to meet material specifications Communicating material development status and updates to leadership Initiating and informing seasonal wear testing, in partnership with our wear test team within RM pre-season calendar timelines Operating and training on in-house lab equipment to record and inform performance attributes and test resultsHere are some of the things you could work on in the future: Researching advanced technology and manufacturing opportunities Optimizing the circular toolbox through consolidation efforts Solutioning for advanced, longer lead time developments Contributing to fabric trademark and franchise opportunities Are you our next Materials Developer 2? You have 3+ years of industry experience related to materials and trims You have a degree or diploma in Materials Science, Textile Technology, Product or Textile Design, or the equivalent industry experience You have a working knowledge of the design and development process from inception through to final adoption You have an extensive knowledge of materials and construction You have a thorough understanding of trims and textile manufacturing, including dying, finishing, printing, molding, etc You have previous materials laboratory testing experience You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration with multiple teams You partner effectively with diverse networks of internal and external cultures and teams You have strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks within tight deadlines You are able to travel internationally, as required You have strong verbal and written communication skills You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and PLM systems You have the physical ability to handle small boxes and rolls of fabric, etc. You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right$82,000 - $112,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$82,000 CAD$112,000 at the time of this posting.
