Project Details: Based at Young-Davidson Mine in Matachewan, ON, this will be a 7 days on / 7 days off (day & night) rotation opportunity. Responsibilities: The underground construction equipment mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair and diagnosis of heavy equipment used underground, such as loaders, drills and mining trucks. Performs inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the safety and efficiency of operations. The mechanic works in collaboration with the maintenance team to minimize production stoppages and optimize equipment performance. Adhering to all legislated mining regulations and performing the role safely; ensuring Health & Safety is the number one priority Following all procedures, policies and processes at the mine site and underground workplace Good comprehension when reading information and/or receiving verbal instructions as required to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner Properly check and maintain mobile or air equipment (surface and underground) Safely install devices or equipment Perform basic welding and flame cutting as needed Ensure the efficient and safe conduct of activities related to tasks Collaborate closely with all team members Secure your workplace Actively participate in prevention activities and training Adequately complete daily reports and work orders related to the tasks assigned Comply with laws, regulations and work procedures Perform other related duties as required Qualifications / Requirements: DEP in construction machinery mechanics or other equivalent training and relevant experience; Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a mobile equipment mechanic and Alimak mechanic, an asset; Ontario Underground Common Core Valid driver's license Basic computer knowledge is an asset; Ability to communicate in French and English with team members. Ability to lift and physically handle material up to 50lbs Able to work independently Ability to work within a fast-paced environment Dependable and able to commit to a 7 day on / 7 day off rotation Positive attitude and enjoys being a proactive member of a high performing team Residents of the Northern ON and candidates identifying as Indigenous are encouraged to apply Pre-employment Requirements: Drug Test Criminal Record Check For this safety sensitive position, you will be required to undergo a background check and be required to undergo a substance test.
