Job DescriptionWHAT’S THE JOB?With over 25 years of experience in the remote camp business, Dexterra is a leader in remote camp catering. Well over 50% of our applicants have been referred by existing employees who recommended Dexterra to their friends and colleagues.The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:All meals and accommodations are provided Private room with cable television Access to Wi-Fi Access to laundry facilities and detergents Access to a gym and common areas The General Helper is responsible for assisting in the overall kitchen operations and maintenance as well as cleaning and sanitizing of designated kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes.Key responsibilities include:Wash, scrub, clean, and sanitize designated kitchen and dining areasClean kitchen and dining room floors and tablesClean refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipmentWash pots, dishes, glasses, cups, etc., after each meal and as requiredDeep cleaning as requiredRestock and rotate desserts, sandwiches, beverages, and condimentsAssist in loading, unloading, and placing supplies and inventoryAssist in making grab-and-go food itemsEnsure health and safety regulations and quality standards are maintainedQualificationsWHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?*REQUIRED* must be from the surrounding communities in Manitoba...Cross Lake, Norway House, Wabowden, Thompson, and other communities in the general area*REQUIRED* must have a reliable ride to the facility, whether you can drive yourself or be driven. Closest community is a 1hr drive minimum one way.Experience working in a kitchen is an asset but not a requirement.You are fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skillsFoodSafe Level I, SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.You are able to prioritize multiple demands and organize a work scheduleYou are able to obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)You have the ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team playerAbility to handle the following physical demands:Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs Climb ladders or stairs Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both handsPerform work with arms at full length Work with arms above shoulder height
