Date Posted:  January 13, 2026Position Title:  Maintenance AssistantLocation: Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre (390 Columbia St E, Vanderhoof, BC V0J 2N6, Canada)Terms: Permanent, Full-Time (32-40 hours per week) Shifts:  Shifts vary but include weekdays, evenings, and weekendsStart Date: As soon as possibleSalary: $19.76 per hour plus full benefits packageReports To: Maintenance SupervisorNature & Scope:The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities, ready to meet the needs of all participants. This role will help oversee the building and maintenance repair, pool heating, pool chemistry filtering equipment, custodial tasks and management tasks as required.As a member of the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre’s team, you will support ensuring the facility is operating efficiently and meeting Association standards of convenience, clean and well maintained, safe, friendly, and welcoming, builds positive relationships, providing opportunities to learn and grow. Furthermore, the assistant will ensure that the YMCA mission and core values are being delivered in our daily operations.Major Responsibilities:Responsible pool heating and filtration equipment as required, and the ability to work unsupervised when needed.Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence, and outcomes focused approach to facility maintenance and operationsResponsible to support a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility.In line with achieving the Association strategic plan, responsible for assisting in developing maintenance goals and outcomes on an annual basis.Be familiar and being able to assist the fire marshal in their duties.Accountable for achieving operations and maintenance goals.Supports high service standards and satisfaction ratings throughout the centre.
