Job DescriptionType of Employment: Permanent Full time Schedule: Monday to Friday - Day Shift - 40 hours per weekWe are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Sample Preparation Technician (General Labourer) to join our team in Delta, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine sample preparation tasks in our laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely processing of geological materials.Unpack, sort, transfer, and dry samples according to established proceduresExecute crushing, pulverizing, and screening of geological materials following standard operating proceduresConduct routine quality checks, including particle size analysis and dust loss measurementsMaintain accurate and complete documentation of work orders and quality control resultsKeep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulationsPerform equipment maintenance and report any issues to supervisorsCollaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet deadlinesAdapt to working in various areas of the laboratory as neededFollow all health and safety protocols, including proper handling of international soil samplesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent0-1 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory or industrial settingStrong analytical and mechanical skillsAbility to perform routine bench tests and follow detailed instructionsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsProven time management skills and ability to work efficientlyPhysical stamina to handle samples and operate laboratory equipmentBasic computer skills for data entry and record-keepingWillingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and proceduresAbility to work well both independently and as part of a teamFlexibility to work extended hours and shifts when requiredKnowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols (preferred)Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all health and safety guidelinesAdditional InformationCompensation: $22 per hour (40 hours per week) Some benefit highlights:80% coverage Health, Dental and Vision Paid time offRRSP Program Eligibility SGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.
