Job descriptionHuawei Canada has an immediate 8-month co-op opening for a Test Engineer.About the team:Huawei Canada's Advanced Optical Technology Lab focuses on advanced R&D in high-performance optical communications and networking. Our expert team specializes in transmission algorithms, systems, physics, and optical network management. The lab engages in projects ranging from deep research to developing key product features, actively participating in standards organizations and collaborative research with partners. If you thrive on solving complex technical challenges, this lab is your ideal place.About the job:Configure and operate a custom high-speed optical test platform (e.g., coherent transceivers, optical amplifiers, etc.)Validate DSP algorithms through rigorous experimental testingDocument test procedures and resultsDesign Python-based automation scripts to streamline instrument control and data loggingOptimize test sequences for reliability and speed (e.g., parallelizing measurements with multithreading)The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.Job requirementsAbout the ideal candidate:Bachelor's student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related fieldProficiency in PythonHands-on lab experience (e.g., coursework with optical components or measurement equipment)Knowledge of optical communication concepts is an assetFamiliarity with machine learning is an assetAdditional Information:Huawei Canada is committed to a fair, inclusive, and accessible recruitment process.
