The Lead Digital Designer provides advanced domain knowledge, strategic advice and expertise to senior stakeholders and design peers on the use of user interface patterns and behaviors in digital experiences. The role leads complex projects, managing design and delivery of visual and interactive artifacts to define interactions with RBC Wealth Management’s products and services.As a senior individual contributor on the Design team, you have domain fluency and provide technical and market guidance to others while making decisions about complex, ambiguous problems impacting product and business outcomes. You use your advanced knowledge of user and business needs to define metrics and test outcomes. Collaboratively planning projects, you have a significant influence on product and business strategy, identifying business opportunities and assigning tasks to others while working independently.What will you do?Your expertise will shine and come to life with a focus on these 2 aspects:Product Design Strategy & Delivery Design StrategyBreak down complex topics and present effectively to broad audiences and senior stakeholdersLead and facilitate design critique and ideation sessions, evaluate Digital User Experiences for inclusivity and provide advanced advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholdersArtifact CreationApply comprehensive design theories, research data and best practices to inform design decisions, while guiding and mentoring peers and teamsCreate complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas. Create complex prototypes to provide high-fidelity specifications for developmentResearch and TestingCollaborate with Design Researcher to design and facilitate research activities, analyze data, identify key findings to inform strategic decisions with clear and actionable recommendationsResearch interaction design strategies in the financial services sector and perform competitive Design audits pertinent to specific design or business goalsLeadershipRepresent the Digital Product Design practice as a trusted business partner by providing measurable business value and leadership-level insights to cross-functional partners and stakeholders through demos, presentations, and workshopsEmpower teams to succeed with a shared vision; delegating authority, and removing obstacles that hinder progress What do you need to succeed? Must-haveBA/BS degree in Design (e.g. user experience, graphic, visual communications, digital product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experienceA minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and developing usable interfaces across multiple platformsDemonstrate ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisionsStrong expertise with Figma, accessibility, agile methodologies and user experience metricsExperience designing web and mobile native user interfacesExperience creating or contributing to a design systemNice to have MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. user experience, graphic, visual communications, digital product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience or a related fieldExperience working within a large organization and within an agile environmentExperience supporting and collaborating on the creation of robust Design SystemsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
