The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge showing a deep understanding of key Social Studies domains, including history, geography, economics, civics, and political science. They will have the ability to connect past and present events to help students understand contemporary issues while demonstrating a strong foundation in supporting students, have an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner and will: Have an educational background in Social Studies; Possess effective communication skills and the ability to explain ideas in clear and accessible ways; Have the ability to engage students through discussion, storytelling, and interactive learning; Have proven critical thinking and analytical skills shown through modelling and encouraging critical inquiry; Possess the ability to guide students to evaluate sources, consider multiple perspectives, and form evidence-based conclusions; Recognizes and respects students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment; Be adaptable and innovative, with a willingness to adjust teaching strategies to meet student needs while embracing new instructional methods, curriculum changes, and emerging educational trends; Have a passion for collaborative teamwork, working effectively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff; Contribute to school initiatives and participates in professional learning communities; Integrate technology though use of digital tools to enhance instruction, assessment, and student engagement. Incorporates multimedia resources, interactive platforms, and research tools to deepen learning. Requirements  Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate. Conditions of Employment In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide: A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions. A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services. Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire. Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
