We look forward to hearing from you. We are seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to become part of our Hydropower and Dams team in our Niagara Falls office.  This is a position for which your focus will be to support and execute hydro and dam related projects and ensure technical excellence within the existing team.  You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing engineering services to large and small hydropower and dams owners in Ontario, across Canada, and globally. In the Niagara Falls office you will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most exciting hydropower and dam projects worldwide. Niagara Falls is just a quick drive to Ontario’s wine country and the Toronto/Mississauga area and allows easy access to the state of New York in the US. As the successful candidate, you will:Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Structural Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and scheduleWork to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentationMaintain structural engineering work procedures, specifications and computer aided design programsPrepare engineering calculationsPrepare technical specifications for a variety of structural engineering tasks involving construction and/or rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures for hydroelectric generating stations, substations, and damsPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertiseProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimatesPrepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteriaPerform dam safety reviewsStamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registeredManage small capital and maintenance projectsPerform site visit to various client site for review, inspection and assessment of existing structuresAssist in preparing proposals You bring to the role:A recognized degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited college or universityA Master’s degree in structural engineering will be considered an assetRegistration as a professional engineer. Alternatively, registration as a candidate professional engineer actively working towards professional registration or regional equivalent10+ years project engineering experienceAt least 8 years of relevant experience working on hydropower projects, involving the analysis and design features of hydropower projects, such as:Stability analyses of dams and other related structuresThe analysis and design of hoist supporting structures and hoist towersSeismic analysis of structural steel hoist tower structures, and concrete dam structures, involving Response Spectrum and Time History AnalysesDesign of powerhouse structures, involving turbine foundations, substructure and superstructureDesign of penstocks (buried penstocks, above ground penstocks and liners) Design of gate structures including Vertical gates, Radial gates, Bulkheads, Stoplogs etcBalance of Plant design for hydroelectric facilities including design of concrete and steel structures, platforms, cranes and monorails etcSound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standardsExperience with MathCad, Staad Pro, SAP 2000 or similar structural analysis softwareSound knowledge of 3D data-centric design systemsExperience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects  Why join us?Work with great people to make a differenceCollaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsTop employerWhat we offer you? Flexible work environmentLong term career developmentThink globally, work locally Don't meet every single requirement?
