Description :Job SummaryPet Valu is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manager of Financial Reporting for an 18-month contract. This role is responsible for leading the preparation of external consolidated financial statements and MD&A, ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will manage audit processes, support technical accounting initiatives, and contribute to system implementations and internal controls.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead the quarterly and annual preparation of consolidated financial statements and MD&A in accordance with IFRS.Plan and manage quarter-end and year-end processes, including timelines, deliverables, and roll-forward of financial statements.Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate responses.Research and analyze new IFRS standards, prepare technical accounting memos, and communicate changes to internal stakeholders.Provide guidance on complex accounting matters including IFRS 2, Share-based payments, IFRS 3, Business Combinations, IFRS 9, Financial Instruments and IFRS 16 Leases.Manage the accounting for share-based compensation plans.Support the consolidation of financial results for internal and external reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.Assist with monthly and quarterly analysis of financial results and balance sheet movements.Assist with the accounting for the company’s lease portfolio.Assist in the preparation of the Management Information Circular and Annual Information Form.Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of new accounting and finance systems.Support the development and implementation of a robust internal control framework.Support senior finance leadership with day-to-day activities as required.Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications CPA, CA designation required.4 to 5+ years of experience in Big-4 public practice accounting or a combination of Big-4 and publicly traded organizations.Strong knowledge and experience with preparing financial statements and MD&A regulatory filings and calculation of industry-appropriate financial and operational metrics.Strong technical accounting knowledge under IFRS.Strong analytical skills, particularly in the research of new accounting pronouncements and their impact to the organization.Experience with Workiva, Computershare, CoStar, is an asset.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Dynamics 365, is an asset.Strong analytical skills including advanced Excel.Competencies Ability to multitask and manage projects/deliverables.Strong attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Able to work independently while also a collaborative team player.
