Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Manager, Educational Innovation and Academic Initiatives and in regular consultation with the Associate Dean Teaching and Learning / Director of the Centre for Teaching and learning, the Educational Developer, Teaching Grants and Awards promotes a scholarly and evidence-based approach to teaching. You will provide expertise to support academic departments in identifying eligible faculty for teaching awards, working closely with departmental staff and chairs, and deliver sessions and webinars on teaching grants and awards, including preparing grant proposals and award nomination packages. You will liaise with the Office of Vice-Principal Academic & Dean at U of T Scarborough (UTSC), the Office of the Vice-Provost, Innovations in Undergraduate Education (VPIUE) and the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI). This role involves consulting with faculty and staff on the design and implementation of pedagogical research. You will support UTSC initiatives to develop and fund pedagogical research and grant programs, facilitate and lead information sessions and workshops, conferences, and communities of practice. Additionally, you will guide faculty through the teaching grant application process, from initial idea development to final submission, and chair the grants adjudication committee. For the Teaching Technology Grant, you will support instructors through the application process, maintain strong collaboration with UTSC’s Information and Instructional Technology Services (IITS) teams, and provide continuous post-approval assistance to ensure accurate, timely, and integrated support. You will contribute to the development and enhancement of educational programs at UTSC. As an Educational Developer, Teaching Grants and Awards, you will ensure that your work supports the enhancement of teaching and learning outcomes, this includes supporting faculty on the development of teaching dossiers. You will support the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and promote the importance of teaching and learning research at UTSC. You will also advise instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum, ensuring alignment with the recommendations of UTSC’s Curriculum Review Working Circle Report and Strategic Plan. Launched as part of UTSC’s Strategic Plan, the Curriculum Review aims to embed the campus’ commitment to inclusion, Indigeneity, and anti-racism across programs and within pedagogical supports. Strong knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development is essential, as it closely aligns with the work many faculty undertake through their teaching grants.Your responsibilities will include:Developing andimplementing components of instructional programsDeveloping instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies, (including collaborating with academic departments to integrate active learning techniques, inclusive teaching practices and assessment strategies into curriculum designPlanning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for assigned projects, (e.g. develops instructional design plans and evaluation frameworks for use in teaching)Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities activities (including writing summary reports on programs and services)Developing resources on educational related matters for instructors and subject matter expertsConducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making (including conducting literature reviews)Collating and organizing materials for research proposal submissions including keeping track of teachinggrant and award application timelines and requirements)Conducting analysis on research trends and other information to strengthen proposals Essential Qualifications:Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum five (5) years of recent and related work experience in higher education, including experience with university-level instruction, program planning, facilitation, curriculum development, faculty development, and professional development for faculty and staffExperience with program evaluation and assessment methodologiesExperience supporting and mentoring faculty in teaching dossier preparationKnowledge of curriculum/curriculum developmentStrong understanding of educational theory, pedagogy, and adult learning principlesAbility to use academic and collaborative technology tools and applications for academic development, as well as keep well-informed on research in graduate education, educational development, and related fields that contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learningExcellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills along with strong initiative, good judgment and ability to successfully meet deadlinesDemonstrated knowledge or engagement in scholarship, teaching, and learning related to theories and practices used in educational development and their application to curriculum development processes and tools and teaching and resource developmentEvidence of engagement in regional, national, and/or international conversations about curriculum, teaching, and learningStrong consultative decision-making skills, demonstratedthrough approachability, supportiveness, and equitable interactions with faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral scholarsExceptional organizational skills, ability to successfully meet deadlines and proven project management abilities, coupled with adaptability and a commitment to building strong community relationships; capable of working independently and collaboratively within a diverse and inclusive environmentMust have strong computer skills, including a high degree of functionality in the use of all Microsoft Office applicationsThe incumbent must have a passion for supporting instructors of diverse backgrounds across the humanities, social sciences, science and management disciplines; sensitivity to the professional development challenges and support needs of educators at all career stages and all levels of experienceMust show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment Assets (Nonessential):Experience working with Adobe Creative CloudExperience working with Articulate Storyline, Camtasia Studio, H5P, and Kaltura, or similar learning modules To be successful in this role you will be:AdaptableApproachableCommunicatorOrganizedProblem solverTeam player Note: This is a TERM position till January 2028.
