Reporting to the Manager of Enforcement Services, the Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing municipal parking regulations to ensure public safety, road maintenance, and accessibility for residents within the Town of Halton Hills. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, issuing parking violations, educating the public on parking regulations, and assisting enforcement services when possible. Accountabilities: Patrol designated areas throughout the municipality using a Town-owned Parking Enforcement vehicle to monitor and enforce parking by-laws and local regulations. Conduct vehicle monitoring activities to ensure compliance with guidelines posted at facilities and roads in Halton Hills. Issue administrative monetary penalty notices for parking violations, unauthorized parking in accessible spaces, and other non-compliant behaviour. Provide information and assistance to the public regarding parking regulations, directions and general inquiries. Record and report incidents, vehicle information and evidence using handheld devices and mobile applications. Identify and report abandoned or illegally parked vehicles. Respond to telephone, police radio and in-person inquiries from the Parking Coordinator or Halton Regional Police regarding parking, procedures and policies. Collaborate with Municipal Law Enforcement agencies and Halton Regional Police, inspecting sites to ensure compliance. Monitor previously approved sites to ensure continued compliance with by-laws. Maintain equipment and supplies provided to Parking Enforcement Officers. Handle complaints professionally, directing unresolved issues to appropriate staff and/or departments. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of tickets issued, patrol routes, daily activities and incidents encountered. Ensure enforcement activities are carried out in accordance with municipal regulations and safety guidelines. Identify potential hazards in parking areas and report them for resolution. Support Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEOs) with low-priority calls (e.g., long grass and weeds) as required Assist the Manager of Enforcement Services with other By-law duties as required.  Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Police Foundations or Public Administration, or equivalent education and experience. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a municipal environment. Knowledge of Administrative Monetary Penalties is an asset Proficiency in Command Centre, AMANDA and MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Working knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Provincial Offences Act and various Town By-laws. Excellent judgment, political sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy in resolving emotionally charged or controversial complaints. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism, especially in situations where litigation may be involved. Superior communication, public relations, problem solving, conflict resolution and inter-personal skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public and various Stakeholders within the organization. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. A valid Ontario Class ‘G’ license in good standing  Compensation: The rate of pay for this part-time position is $39.13 - $46.58 per hour. The hours of work for this position are variable per week and may be scheduled up to 35 hours per week or 70 hours in each two-week period. This position requires shift work and may be scheduled days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
