Python & Generative AI Developer

Job DescriptionRole: Python development, Generative AI solutions, database technologies, DevOps practices, and Unix/Linux shell scripting.Location: MontrealHybrid: In office 3 days a weekWe are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python development, Generative AI solutions, database technologies, DevOps practices, and Unix/Linux shell scripting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable AI‑driven and data‑intensive applications in a cloud‑native environment.Key Responsibilities:- Application Development:Design, develop, and maintain robust Python‑based applications and services.Build scalable APIs and backend services using Python frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django.Write clean, efficient, and reusable code following best software engineering practices.- Generative AI & Machine LearningDesign and implement Generative AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs).Integrate models such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks into enterprise applications.Implement prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns.Collaborate with data science teams to productionize ML/GenAI models.- Database & Data ManagementDesign and manage relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.Work with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB as required.Develop optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and data pipelines.Ensure data integrity, performance tuning, and efficient storage strategies.- DevOps & Cloud EngineeringImplement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar.Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes.Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation).Monitor application health, performance, and reliability using logging and monitoring tools.- Unix / Shell ScriptingDevelop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts (Bash, Korn, or Shell) for automation and operational tasks.Troubleshoot application and system issues on Linux platforms.Perform environment setup, batch job scheduling, and process automation.- Collaboration & GovernanceCollaborate with cross‑functional teams including product, QA, security, and operations.Follow enterprise standards for security, compliance, and documentation.Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical mentoring.Required Skills & Qualifications:-Technical SkillsStrong proficiency in Python programmingHands‑on experience with Generative AI / LLMsSolid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databasesExperience with DevOps tools and cloud platformsStrong Unix/Linux and shell scripting skillsFamiliarity with REST APIs, microservices, and event‑driven architectures- Preferred SkillsExperience in BFSI or regulated environmentsKnowledge of security best practices, IAM, and data privacyExposure to vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Chroma, etc.)Experience with MLOps frameworks and model monitoringRequirementsExperience (Years): 4-6 Essential Skills: • Work with project teams throughout the organization to design, implement, and manage CDN infrastructure using Akamai, to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability for customer facing applications and business processes. • Handle multiple priorities and assignments with excellence and precision. • Be a part of a 24/7/365 organization (some after hours support is expected as part of normal on-call rotation). • Directly support line of business development teams, provide guidance to them on implementation and changes for customer facing applications • Develop and maintain security protocols and measures to protect CDN infrastructure from cyber threats. • Monitor and analyze network performance, identifying and resolving issues to optimize content delivery of critical applications. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Akamai CDN solutions with existing systems and applications. • Collaborate with information security teams to implement DDoS protection strategies and other security measures in the CDN. • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams regarding CDN and security best practices. • Work closely with vendor and professional service teams on delivery related activities and strategy. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. OR similar work experience. • Strong understanding of network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TCP/IP). • Proven experience as a CDN Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on cybersecurity. • In-depth knowledge of Content Delivery Network technologies, including caching, load balancing, and content optimization. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication and teamwork abilities. • Experience supporting 24/7/365 customer facing applications at enterprise scale. • Awareness and experience with cybersecurity tools and practices, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption. • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash) a plus. • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are a plus but not required.
