As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll play a key role in developing innovative systems that push the boundaries of what’s possible in robotics. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and technologists to design mechanical systems that are both practical and groundbreaking.What You’ll DoDesign mechanical components and assemblies for robotic systems, from concept through to production.Develop detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation for manufacturing.Perform tolerance analyses, material selection, and design for manufacturability (DFM).Work with suppliers and fabricators to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost requirements.Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of subsystems.Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.Participate in design reviews and contribute creative solutions to technical challenges.What Success Looks LikeRobust, manufacturable designs delivered on schedule.Reduced iteration cycles through thoughtful design and collaboration.Clear, accurate documentation enabling smooth transitions to manufacturing.Designs that improve robot reliability, performance, and usability in real-world farm environments.What You BringA diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field.4+ years of experience in mechanical design (robotics, automation, or machinery preferred).Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).Strong understanding of GD&T, material properties, and manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plastics, etc.).Experience with prototyping, testing, and hands-on problem solving.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.Why This Role MattersOur robots are solving one of the most pressing challenges in agriculture: the labour shortage in food production.
