These interventions include: psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management. Health Care Social Workers are actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic, requiring each Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams. The Health Care Social Worker is a licensed professional who practices in accordance with a set of National/Provincial Standards and Code of Ethics and Department Procedures, Policies and Standards. The Health Care Social Worker is responsible for supervising undergraduate and graduate students in work placements. The Health Care Social Worker provides consultation based upon an advanced level of educa1ion (MSW) which includes an integrated knowledge of the social, structural, emotional, psychological and cultural factors that affect well-being.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Completion of a Master of Social Work degree from a recognized universityRegistration and Membership in the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social WorkersTwo years' clinical experience as a Social WorkerKnowledge of the fundamentals of human behaviour including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behaviour changeExperience in oncology, grief and loss, advance care planning, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, an indepth understanding of the continuum of careAwareness of local community resources and agencies would be an assetLeap palliative care training preferredProven self-directed leadershipAdvanced leadership training in working with people with developmental disabilitiesCompetencies in other languages preferred, French an assetPlease ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weeklyThis is a Hybrid role – In addition to working at Valley Regional Hospital or South Shore Regional Hospital, as required, the successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the work from home program upon successful completion of orientation, etc. Compensation and Benefits$40.18 - $55.49 hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
