The Immunization Services Division requires a self-directed, flexible, and enthusiastic Public Health Nurse with strong communication, facilitation and nursing assessment and analysis skills to deliver services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards for Vaccine Storage and Handling Protocol. Team Specific Responsibilities:Implement Ministry of Health Vaccine Storage and Handling Protocol and GuidelinesConduct vaccine fridge inspections for all fridges that store publicly funded vaccines in primary care offices, pharmacies, long-term care and retirement homes, and any other facility in Peel that store publicly funded vaccinesProvide education and teaching on strategies to maintain safe and effective storage and handling of publicly funded vaccines to reduce wastageConduct cold chain incident investigations and follow up with vaccine manufacturers to determine disposition of vaccines exposed to adverse storage conditionsProvide Intake Line coverage to support vaccine storage, handling, inventory and cold chain incident inquiries and reportingWork collaboratively with team members, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, problem solving, effective communication and continuous quality improvement, to meet the operational needs of the program and clientsWork collaboratively with other health professionals and agencies (e.g. physicians, local hospitals and community health agencies) to ensure minimal wastage of publicly funded vaccines and adherence to safe practices of storage and handling of vaccinesDocumentation and data entry in electronic documentation systems (e.g., Salesforce) and reporting in Ministry databases (e.g., Panorama)Contribute to program planning, evaluation and the development of program innovations and continuous improvement initiativesTeam Specific Requirements:Regular travel in the community and facilities across the (EIDM)Advocate for and contribute to the development of healthy public policyCollaborate with partners to identify and address public health issues and service gaps in order to achieve improved health outcomesDevelop, foster and facilitate inter-sectoral partnerships and networks using team building, negotiation, conflict management and group facilitationDemonstrate culturally sensitive approaches and strategies with diverse populationsCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersPromote awareness of the Region of Peel and Public Health servicesParticipate in research, quality Act and Emergency StandardsWhat the role requires:A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognized by a Canadian UniversityCurrent license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent CPR certification, Level C or HCP, is a requirement for Public Health NursesExperience in public health or community health nursing is preferredSkills/Abilities:Effective written and oral communication skillsRelevant computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and the ability to work with databasesEffective public relations, presentation, public speaking,
