Manager, Data Engineer

Is this role right for you? In this role you will: Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Design and maintain scalable data architecture in SQL Server (on-premise and Private Cloud) to support periodical integration, transformation, validation and analysis of financial/operational data from diverse sources. Ensures data architecture is maintained consistently with data management principles and continuously evolves in alignment with the strategic technology and governance standards.  Work in an Agile environment, be quick to adapt and understand dynamic business requirements, and be able to work with tight timelines. Proactively supports data-based decision making across operational functions by identifying analytical prospects in operational/financial data. Identify opportunities to automate business tasks that are manual/repetitive in nature and drives continuous improvement to key processes. Continuously cycles through the review and application of techniques, tools, and/or utilities to promote working standards and maintain high-quality solutions. Employ effective iterative development practices. Executes all development phases supporting the end-to-end delivery of data solutions. Proficiently performs activities which include data profiling, acquisition, modeling, cleansing & conforming, augmentation with reference data, aggregation, and visualization; setting a solid foundation for on-line interactive dashboards and ad hoc reporting. Maintain availability, reliability, and integrity of data products by developing and/or configuring appropriate information controls. Builds strong relationships with enterprise architecture, infrastructure and technology teams to ensure that performance commitments to support business partners are fulfilled. Execute data mining techniques to provide fact-based analysis to support data initiatives and improve business processes. Leverage agility and creativity to maximize value added by data analysis. Proactively recommend and execute strategies to improve methodology, operational efficiency & effectiveness, and quality of deliverables. Continually identify, propose and assist in the integration and adoption of new technologies and methodologies as appropriate. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have: University degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related fields 3+ years of practical experience in business intelligence and data analytics is required Advanced knowledge of database design, data mining, profiling and modelling techniques. Solid experience with SQL Server, PEGA systems, developing Reporting Services (SSRS), building cubes using Analysis Services (SSAS), Dimensional/Relational modelling, and ETL Experience integrating with Hadoop and working with Big Data technologies; Microsoft Visual Studio & Team Foundation Server Experience with MS Azure Cloud Services (Implementation & Development) Basic knowledge of Power BI and DAX coding Experience with Python data libraries is an asset Good communication skills are an asset Familiarity of Commercial Banking products, services, policies and procedures, banking regulations and related regulatory requirements is an asset.
