Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for a Manager, Regulation of Firms Auditing to join our team in Burnaby 

The Manager, Regulation of Firms Auditing is responsible for the overall planning, execution, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Regulation of Firms Audit Program. The Regulation of Firms program regulates firms in the private and public sectors that provide products and/or services in BC requiring the practise of professional engineering and/or professional geoscience (approximately 4700 organizations). A key component of the Regulation of Firms program is its audit program where ~10% of firms are audited every year.

This role is responsible for managing a team of auditors comprised of both staff and contractors who conduct the Regulation of Firms audits. The management of this team includes audit scheduling, preparation and maintenance of audit program materials, ensuring quality and consistency of audits, training of auditors, managing the audit program budget, processing and following up on corrective actions identified in audits, reporting audit statistics and trends, and drafting reports to the Audit and Practice Review Committee.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

  • Managing the planning, execution, and maintenance of the Regulation of Firms Audit Program.
  • Managing staff and contract auditors; responsible for sourcing and training additional contract auditors.
  • Managing the Audit program budget under the guidance of the Associate Director, Regulation of Firms.
  • Managing continual improvement of the Regulation of Firms audit program by soliciting feedback from auditors and auditees, identifying areas for refinement.
  • Managing audit program scheduling, ensuring audit frequency requirements are met, auditor utilization is maximized, and audit budget is adhered to.
  • Scheduling and conducting initial, reoccurring, and update training of auditors.
  • Preparation and ongoing maintenance of all audit program documents, including auditor resources, training materials, standard operation procedures, etc.
  • Processing and following up on corrective actions identified in all audits.
  • Drafting reports to the Audit and Practice Review Committee with recommendations relating to Major Non-Conformances identified in audits.
  • Providing guidance relating to the execution of the audits and regulatory requirements to auditors.
  • Conducting Regulation of Firms audits as required.
  • Providing leadership to direct reports with accountability for hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring; responsible for conducting all aspects of performance management as well as making recommendations for training and development. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management. 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE 

The successful applicant will possess the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Science or Geoscience is required.
  • Must be a registered professional with, or eligible for registration with, Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Must be registered with the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA).
  • 5-7 years of relevant progressive work experience, including people management and program management.
  • 5+ years experience in conducting Quality Management or 3rd Party Vendor audits.
  • 5+ years experience in managing audit program(s) (internal or external).
  • ISO 9001:2015 qualified lead auditor.
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment is preferred.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $119,000 to $133,000. Placement within the hiring range will be based on candidate experience relative to the requirements of the role. Additional details on our generous benefit offerings are found below.
