Paving Foreperson

BA Blacktop Ltd. is currently looking for a team-oriented, hands-on, and experienced Paving Foreperson to join our crew in the Fraser Valley.JOB PURPOSEThe Paving Foreperson is the first in command under the supervision of the Superintendent and oversees the execution of work on the job site. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Site SafetyMaintain strong safety and liability awarenessLead daily work plans and weekly Tailgate Safety meetingsConduct Red Alert reviews and monthly site safety inspectionsEnsure proper use of PPE by all crew membersIdentify, report, and address Near Misses and hazards as neededReport incidents/accidents promptly and participate in investigationsEnsure compliance with OH&S manual and WorkSafeBC regulationsPromote safe work practices, considering risks and liabilitiesKeep sites clean and hazard-freeOversee housekeeping and equipment/vehicle cleanliness and maintenanceCoordinate/Schedule Onsite Work Supervise daily and weekly operationsMonitor progress and ensure deadlines are metConfirm all necessary work order info is available before startingReview project requirements (quantities, cost codes, production rate, drawings …) with SuperintendentPerform or verify project survey/layout as neededMonitor application, quantities, and production to optimize yield and plant ordersReinforce the disciplinary programCommunicate schedules to all on-site workersLead and direct crew daily based on site needsOrganize site logistics: trucks, equipment, materials, and subcontractors (flaggers, QC, sweepers, transport…)Maintain regular communication with plant operatorDeliver work on time, to quality standardsMonitor work to reduce costs and maximize efficiencyQuality of WorkMonitor mix temperature, rolling patterns, and mat surface appearanceCorrect deficiencies and report them via NCR processProvide accurate mix quantities to minimize wasteTraining and DevelopmentMonitor, train and develop crew members Ensure new/young workers are trained prior to complete the New Worker Program Equipment Management Provide all necessary material/equipment to operators to perform daily equipment maintenanceEnsure equipment operators perform daily maintenance, fueling, greasing, fluid level checks, and overall condition checks of equipment dailyEnsure operators complete detailed DFERS daily/Ensure vehicle drivers complete detailed Pre-trips dailyCommunicate equipment issues and breakdowns with the equipment departmentReporting and Record KeepingComplete Daily Quantity Reports and Extra Work OrdersPrepare and submit accurate Papyrus timesheets dailyMaintain daily notes of work site activities, issues, and instructionsQUALIFICATIONSEssential QualificationsHeavy a strong and growing knowledge of paving/construction activities and processesHave a strong and growing knowledge of specifications (MoTI, MMCD, local government specifications)Ability to organize all field aspects needed on-site to begin and complete a jobPossess general computer skillsAbility to measure and calculate length, surface, volumes, and quantitiesHave a working knowledge of all the equipment on siteHave a strong knowledge of the electronic systemExcellent leadership and communication skillsStrong communication skills with clients and the publicA desire to learn and teach; a passion to excel and to strive to get the most out of employeesWHMISOccupational First aid Level 1Traffic Control Person TrainingPapyrus TrainingIntelex TrainingScreed / Paver OperationDesirable QualificationsSite Plan Reading Course (BCIT)Public Works Course (BCIT)Construction Management CoursesOccupational First aid Level 2Wirtgen / Cat Equipment TrainingHeavy Duty Trailer Endorsement Training ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE ROLEPay: From $45.50 per hourLocation: Fraser Valley Area Entité BA Blacktop, qui fait partie de VINCI Construction Canada, a été fondée dans la province de la Colombie-Britannique en 1956.
