Shermco Canada is seeking an Electrical Supervisor Electrical Supervisor Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for directing, leading and supervising utility and construction focused scopes, primarily focused on (but not limited to) Shermco’s SaskPower account. The ECS will work very closely with Shermco’s SaskPower focused Engineer/Project Manager (hereinafter referred to as “E/PM”), the Electrical Services Manager (hereinafter referred to as “ESM”), assigned site-based crews, the EOM and other leadership personnel within the Saskatchewan Operations team. The ECS will be focused on the continued growth of Shermco’ s services to SaskPower, fostering further long-term and effective relationships with SaskPower as a Shermco key client and aligning with Shermco’s long-term growth plans. The overall success of the above noted focus will be the results of the ECS ensuring all activities (construction, maintenance, outages etc.) are carried out and executed safely, on time and on budget in accordance with Shermco and client standards, specifications and expectations. The ECS will spend the majority of their time working on the SaskPower assigned and active scopes; however, may also be required to attend on occasion for team or corporate meetings or training. Job Responsibilities: Leadership Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship and direction to crew leaders, site crews and all other staff who may report to site(s), ensuring daily objectives are being achieved. Promote leadership and positivity on an on-going basis highlighting on important values not limited to: Shermco Core Principles Shermco Cardinal Rules Shermco company direction and initiatives Customer Core Values As a great deal of this role is based on leadership, it is imperative the ECS leads by example and demonstrates a commitment to safety in all aspects. To drive and deliver on this commitment, the ECS will need to regularly schedule “dedicated safety time in field” with the workforce to promote and conduct leading indicators with the use of Shermco MBWA’s (Management By Walking Around), Hazard ID/Concern Reporting, Field Inspections and Audits. Be present and ensure quality interactions with teams and personnel. Construction Supervision The ECS is primarily responsible for directing the work and the overall supervision, coordination of work assignments, and safe work practices for the assigned scopes and corresponding assigned site crews. The ECS will ensure all required procedures and processes are adhered to according to Shermco policies, client policies and as outlined by project charters. The ECS will coordinate activities in accordance with the client and project schedule and will shift priorities as dictated by project and client requirements. The ECS must work closely and effectively with the E/PM (Graeme Cross) and ESM (Aaron Sparvier) to ensure crews and the overall client team(s) are meeting productivity and timeline requirements, all the while maintaining and exceeding the expected quality and safety standards of Shermco and the client. Additional ECS responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: Supervise, coordinate and schedule the daily activities of the assigned crew(s) and appointed crew leaders to carry out daily work in smaller crews on specific tasks, to insure work scopes are completed with safety as the number one priority followed by schedule to insure scope milestones are achieved. Supervise and oversee site specific/project procurement in consultation with ESR and EOM in accordance with Shermco purchasing procedures and procurement delegation of authority. Supervise, coordinate and oversee all Shermco sub-contractors required for assigned scopes insuring adequate sub-contractor management is in place at all times. Distribute work packages to crew leaders for clear direction on work to be performed. Regularly attend site specific, scope specific and client meetings as required and directed. In close and frequent consultation, the ECS will work with the E/PM, ESR and EOM on the following key business items related to all scopes of work assigned: Safety & Training Budget & Finance Schedule & Manpower Tools, Equipment & Assets Resolve site issues as relevant to assigned work crew and establish measures to improve productivity. Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate required activities as per the scope and timeline of the project. Assist in planning project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools. Deliver mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting to Manager(s) and/or Project Manager(s). Support and at times as requested lead site specific project work scope estimating/bidding in close consultation with EOM, ESM, E/PM and/or designate. Provide on-going performance feedback of assigned resources scheduled to the ESM. Assist with formal staff reviews as requested by the ESM. Evaluate projects and work scopes upon completion to identify what worked well and what could be improved on the next project or work scope. Present lessons learned to E/PM, ESM and project or work scope lead team members. Ensure all safety incidents and near misses are accurately documented in a timely manner; communicate importance of this to work crew(s) and encourage safe work practices and behaviors. Assist and cooperate with EHS, Human Resources and/or Management in conducting timely investigations into incidents or issues involving crew members; enact disciplinary measures or deploy required communication as deemed necessary by the situation. Perform additional assignments as per EOM direction. Qualifications: Registered Red Seal Interprovincial Electrical Journeyman Ticket 7+ years industrial experience 3+ years supervision experience SaskPower construction experience preferred Substation and/or High Voltage apparatus construction preferred Thorough understanding of CEC Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings Sound knowledge and understanding of materials and techniques electrical construction and maintenance Possess strong Supervision and Leadership qualities Ability to accurately analyze, assess and mitigate safety risks and concerns Knowledge and familiarity of other trades’ and departments work requirements Ability to complete work related documents accurately and efficiently Industrial facility safe work qualifications Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently Must have a valid driver's license and able to maintain a clean abstract Must be available to work out-of-town (out of province and/or country) and regular overnight travel Other Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy High level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability Analytical, time management, and logical decision-making capabilities Calm, positive attitude under pressure Strong communication skills Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment An aptitude and willingness to learn and proven initiative
