Position Summary:South Country Co-op is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Liquor Clerk to join our team at the Strachan Liquor Store in Medicine Hat, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from youReporting to the Liquor Manager, the Liquor Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the liquor store. This includes stocking and displaying merchandise, operating the register, and ensuring the store is clean, safe, and well-merchandised. The role requires a proactive and professional approach to customer interaction and a solid understanding of product handling and liquor regulations.Key Responsibilities:Provide world-class customer service by assisting guests with purchases and inquiriesReceive and stock merchandise, rotate inventory, and replenish shelves as neededOperate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactionsMaintain merchandising standards, including creating endcap displays and signageEnsure cleanliness and organization of shelves, coolers, and store areasAdhere to provincial liquor laws and store safety proceduresSupport team members as needed and help maintain a collaborative work environmentEducate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op Other duties as assignedQualifications:Minimum 18 years of ageMust have or be willing to obtain ProServe certification within 30 days of hirePrevious experience in liquor retail or general retail/cash handling is preferredPhysically able to stand for extended periods and lift 20–30 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally)Strong product knowledge and understanding of provincial liquor regulations an assetBasic computer, calculator, and POS skillsAbility to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and professionallyStrong communication and customer service skillsDetail-oriented, reliable, and a team playerPositive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologyWork Schedule:This position requires full availability including days, evenings, and weekends.Why Work with Us?At South Country Co-op, we value our team members and are committed to their well-being and success.
